The workshop "Joint Principles for Adaptation (JPA) - Lessons Learned and Way Ahead" is run as a two-day event from the 22-23rd of April in Nairobi, Kenya.

It is expected that a representative from each partner network in the Southen Voices on Adaptation project will participate.

The aim of the workshop is to review and share the lessons from using the JPA to advocate for pro-poor national adaptation policies.

Based on the practical experiences from the networks and their key recommendations, the ambition is to develop an updated and adjusted version of the JPA.

Another item on the agenda is to discuss how the JPA can be promoted at COP21 and the CBA9 – the 9th International Conference on Community Based Adaptation.

Main items on the workshop agenda:

  • Share lessons on adaptation advocacy based on case stories
  • Update the JPA into a version 2
  • Promotion of the JPA towards new actors and launch at the COP21
  • Plans for the SVA project and JPA beyond 2015

The SVA-workshop is held in the context of the CBA9 conference hosted in Nairobi on the 24-30th of April.

The intention is to bring as many SVA-partners on board as possible.

The theme of the CBA9 conference is "Measuring and enhancing effective adaptation" and it is kicked off by two days of field visits.

During the conference participants will also have the opportunity to interact and share ideas with a broad range of researchers, policymakers and practitioners – NGOs as well as officials – engaged in the agenda on climate change adaptation.
